PRAISE THE LORD for all that has been able to be accomplished here in Costa Rica.
Yesterday, we went to a church near Missionary Shinabery’s and worked extremely hard on fixing the church so that it could stay open. The government gave them a deadline to get this done, and the guys did it! Spent 10 hours on it!!!! We sanded the bars and front gate and then painted it all so the church gate looked better. Very hot!! Some of the guys worked on the 2 sets of doors to the church because the doors opened the wrong way. They had to weld, cut, and grind; it was very tedious work!!! We had the church service there and came home. We also put in an emergency light in the church so that it could stay open and gave them some money to put glass in their doors.
The TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM has been very interesting. We PRAISE the LORD for His protection. They do not drive like we do in AMERICA!! We have been taking the public bus for most of the trips to the different ministries because the original transportation was a misunderstanding. The few days we used the rented service the driver charged double the price, and we didn’t know it was this way until we went to pay him!
We went to a large Catholic church the other day and it was an eye opener for the team. They were doing construction right in the middle of it with scaffolds, so it ruined the experience just a little bit. But they still could sense the deep ritualism and lack of hope found in the Catholic church. Went to the language school where many missionaries come to learn Spanish before they start their ministries. Some of the Team members said they might start there one day. PRAISE THE LORD!!
The camp we have stayed at for some of the time has been great! It even has hot water, which is not always available!!
We have had some team members get sick some stomach problems...but, PRAISE THE LORD they are getting better. Today is our last day and after we are finished working on little things around the missionary’s house, we are going to the market for some souvenirs.
We are so thankful for the unity and good spirit of the team. WE PRAISE THE LORD for the many who have received Christ and others have made decisions to serve Christ better.
We are looking forward to sharing our experiences! See you all soon!!! THANK YOU for your prayers. God truly has been honored.
We got back safely from Upala last night. It was great visiting the village church there. Despite the heat, we were able to have a couple evangelistic outreaches. It was such a blessing to see souls saved and hearts touched. The people were so glad that we came. It was hard to leave them.
Today we will be visiting and ministering in a Jail and also in a Nursing Home. That's all the time I have to write for now. Keep praying. God is working!
All the team members say Hello and and send their love to their parents.
Today was filled with great opportunities to witness--it was wonderful! We had 5 souls saved today. Mike and I each led a person to the Lord today--what a blessing!
We went to Brother Andy Shinabery's in the morning and sang songs for an hour before we went out soul winning. Missionary Gonzalo Cera came and then we went out into our groups again for tract distribution and witnessing. People were very open.
Later, we were able to go to a Language School where Costa Rican's were learning the English language. We split up into groups and spoke English to them. What a joy it was to share the GOSPEL. The people there seemed to really enjoy our being there. It was great for our group, and the people wanted us to come back later.
In the evening, we went to a Costa Rican's home to have a fellowship party for the people that got saved today.
It rained pretty much all day, but attitude's were great! Packed day! God blessed!
This may be the last email I can get to you for a while because we are leaving tomorrow and the place we are going to does not have internet service.
Please keep us in your prayers.
Our day began this morning at 5:00-5:30 a.m. The Lord held off the rain while our team was divided into 4 groups and went into the city witnessing house to house. We ARE SO EXCITED for the 14 people our Team was able to led to the Lord today. What an answer to prayer! The Lord be praised!
We then went to Missionary Shinabery's house and painted the fence a little bit, repaced the car brakes, sanded and painted. The girls made 2 cakes and decorated them for the salvation party, did some house cleaning, repaired holes in walls, and continued to sew the curtains, etc.
After dinner, we had people that were saved today as well as their families come over to the missionary's house for some cake and fellowship. This gave us an opportunity to give them a Bible and talk to them a little more. Pray that they will begin attending the church the Shinabery's are trying to start.
Greetings from Costa Rica!
The team slept at a camp last night and fell asleep listening to the rain and the bugs!
They woke up this morning ready to go. They loaded the van and headed to Missionary Shinabery's house to sand and paint while some of the other team members sewed and mended for the Missionary's wife, Michelle.
Later, we had a meeting to learn how to witness in Costa Rica using the "Evangecubes". The team is looking forward to using them to witness tomorrow!
Giorgio Romani and Mike Shinabery witnessed to 2 people and Giorgio was able to lead a man to the Lord--what an answer to prayer!
Since we were not able to get into the Jail today to witness, we visited with another missionary, Gonzalo and Sarah Beth Cera.
The students say hi to their families!
